The American visa is an essential document for Mexicans, Colombians, Argentines, and any other foreigner who wishes to visit the United States for a specific period and for a specific purpose -such as tourism-, since the authorities will request it as part of the necessary documents to authorize entry into the country.
In this regard, the State Department details on its official website the American visa requirement that all travelers must meet for it to be considered valid, regardless of its expiration date.

According to what the authorities detailed, visas that are not physically present in the passport in which they were issued or that show severe damage will automatically lose their validity, regardless of how much validity remains.
“If your visa has been damaged in any way, you will need to apply again for a new one at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad,” it states.
An example of this is if the visa page tears or if someone tries to remove it when the passport it is in expires in order to place it in the new one. This practice is completely prohibited.
The instruction for those who have a new passport while the previous one still contains a valid visa is to travel with both documents until a new visa is issued in the current passport.
When an invalid visa is presented, travel to the United States cannot be made.

The American visa must be used only for its purpose, since carrying out activities that are outside the authorized permissions may automatically put its validity at risk.
On the other hand, respecting the established entry and exit deadlines is also essential to preserve the document and be able to use it again, since if these periods are exceeded the visa is canceled because its holder will be out of status. In these cases, it will no longer be valid for travel.
