The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirmed that people who do not update their personal information could face delays, suspensions, or interruptions in their payments during June.
Keeping outdated information can affect direct deposits, tax refunds, and monthly benefits.
Any change related to legal name, address, or bank account must be reported immediately to avoid payment issues.
These people could lose Social Security payments in June
The SSA said there are different situations that can cause problems with monthly benefits if personal information is not properly updated.
When the name registered with SSA does not match banking or tax information, direct deposit rejections and delays in refunds from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) may occur.

Another important problem arises when a person changes address and does not update it.
Bank changes can also lead to returned payments
Federal agents warn about the consequences of failing to report changes to bank account or financial institution. If payments are sent to a closed or incorrect account, the money may be rejected and returned to the federal agency.
In those cases, reissuing the payment can take several weeks, especially affecting retirees, people with disabilities, and beneficiaries of federal programs who depend on that monthly income.
The data that must be kept up to date include the following:
- Legal name.
- Mailing address.
- Phone number.
- Banking information for direct deposit.
- Marital status.
The agency reminded that keeping records accurate helps avoid interruptions in payments and administrative problems related to federal benefits.
