The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) details on its official website what requirements those under 24 years of age must meet in order to apply for their driver’s license for the first time in the state.

Under these circumstances, it will be mandatory to take a six-hour course, a requirement that applies to all beginner drivers in this age group, except for those who present a valid driver’s license that has not expired from another state.

Texas DPS will ban driver’s licenses in May for those under 24 who do not meet this mandatory requirement

According to authorities, all new drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 who want to apply for a driver’s license will have to take a six-hour driver education course.

This requirement is waived for new residents aged 18 or older who present a valid, unexpired driver’s license from another state,” it states.

Those who need to handle this document in May will have to meet this condition; otherwise, they will not be able to continue with the process.
